About Me
I’m Saurabh Chaubey, a Lead Platform Engineer based in Sydney, Australia, with over 20 years of experience building and scaling enterprise technology platforms across Insurance, Investment Banking, Government, and Telecommunications sectors.
I specialise in platform engineering, cloud-native architectures, DevOps automation, and developer enablement — helping organisations build the internal tooling and infrastructure that empowers engineering teams to ship faster and more reliably. I’m also very much interested in learning, exploring, and building agentic AI solutions.
What I Do
At QBE Insurance, I lead platform engineering initiatives focused on cloud-native transformation, developer experience, and operational automation:
- Migrated 70+ microservices from on-premises to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), establishing cloud-native best practices across the organisation
- Built an Internal Developer Portal powered by Backstage, providing self-service capabilities for repository creation, CI/CD automation, secrets management, and developer onboarding
- Modernised CI/CD pipelines — migrating from Jenkins and UCD to Azure DevOps with containerised build agents
- Developed Platform APIs and CLIs for automated provisioning of secrets, pipelines, sandboxes, and feature toggles
- Enabled event-driven architecture by onboarding Confluent Cloud for Kafka with IaC-automated cluster provisioning
